Empire of the Sun and Steve Angello Rang in 2016 Before Record Crowds in Cancun

CANCUN, Quintana Roo, Mexico, January 12, 2016 — Grand Oasis Cancun, the leading all-inclusive vacation resort brand in the Mexican Caribbean, hosted one of the most talked-about New Year’s celebrations on the beach of the Grand Oasis Cancun complex. World-renowned electronic music superstars Empire of the Sun and Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia took the beachfront stage for nearly nine hours (from 9 PM Dec 31^st until 6 AM Jan 1^st) in front of a record audience of more than 9,000 attendees.

The Australian duo Empire of the Sun have been international electronic megastars since their 2008 debut album, Walking on a Dream, which reached double platinum in Australia and gold in England. The title song and “We Are the People” are crowd favorites on the global dance circuit. The duo followed up their success with 2013’s Ice on the Dune and its top single, “Alive.”
